Sony has posted on YouTube a seven-minute video with the disassembly of the PlayStation 5. The video provides an opportunity to get acquainted with the internal stuffing of the gadget in detail and reveals some interesting details about the console.
The company approached the creation of the video seriously. Sony Interactive Entertainment's vice president of mechanical design and hardware design, Yasuhiro Ootori, was hired to disassemble and showcase the internals of the new PlayStation.
The PS5 side panels are easy to remove - just slide them open. But with the stand, everything is a little more complicated: in the vertical position, the set-top box is fixed on it with a screw, and in the vertical position - thanks to two latches.

To remove dust accumulating inside the PS5, there are two dust collectors: they can be cleaned with a vacuum cleaner. Also in the video you can see the fan of the cooling system well. A turbine-type device with a diameter of 120 millimeters blows a radiator with aluminum fins and six heat pipes, which, according to the developers, "provides the same performance as a vaporization chamber."
An important feature of the console cooling system is that it used liquid metal. It is used as a heat conductor between the System-on-Chip and the heatsink plate. This technology significantly reduces the noise level of the fan.
The motherboard houses 16GB of GDDR6 system memory, a custom controller, and an 825GB SSD. Also on the board you can see the AMD Ryzen CPU on the Zen 2 microarchitecture.
Overall, the video shows that the PS5 will be very easy to repair. Access to the main components - processor, RAM, solid state drive - is very simple. Replacing the power supply and optical drive (in those versions of the gadget where it is) is also not difficult.
