Scientists have found the amazing Tatooine, which is very far from its double star. Recall that a similar planet was in the movie "Star Wars".

The new exoplanet was discovered by scientists working with the Kepler astronomical satellite, and the results of the study are contained in the Cornell University electronic library. The researchers found a planet near the binary star KOI-2939 (in the constellation Cygnus), which is very far from its star. One year lasts 1100 days on it. At the moment, this is a record among all Jupiter-like "Tatooines" known to science.

Planet KOI-2939b is about 1.5 times farther from its binary star than Mars is from our Sun. And since the two methods of searching for exoplanets (transit and the method of radial velocities) are poorly suited for the search for celestial bodies far from the stars, the very fact of finding such a planet is already an event. Recall that the transit method (which was used by Kepler) involves the identification of exoplanets, based on the observation of the planet against the background of its star. At this time, the luminosity of the star falls, and this allows you to establish the size of the celestial body. In the future, using the data obtained, scientists will be able to draw conclusions regarding the density of the exoplanet and the composition of its atmosphere.

Due to the fact that KOI-2939b is very remote, it rarely "obscures" its home star. The binary star KOI-2939 itself is two sun-like yellow subdwarfs that orbit each other in eleven days.

The open planet is in many ways similar to our Jupiter - this gas giant is the largest planet in the solar system. The mass of KOI-2939b, however, is approximately 1.5 times more. The properties of the exoplanet exclude the existence of life on it, but the satellites of the new "Tatooine" may contain it. Provided, of course, that they exist. It is very difficult to identify such celestial bodies, and even at such a distance from the star.

The fictional Tatooine from the fantasy Star Wars saga has two suns and three moons. The planet is located at the intersection of important trade routes, and "guests" often stay there. At the same time "Tatooine" is called "uninteresting", as it is a desert with rare rocks.

Recall that in 2015, an exoplanet was discovered, which has as many as four stars! We are talking about a gas giant located in the 30 Aries system and located at a distance of 136 light years from our Earth. The planet is very massive - it weighs ten times more than Jupiter and orbits the "main" star in 335 Earth days.
