A patent for the T-Rex tank, which is sometimes called a competitor to the Russian T-14 based on the "Armata", has been posted on the Web. Now you can take a closer look at the new creation of Ukrainian engineers.

The patent of the new Ukrainian tank was published on the website "National Industrial Portal". The pages of the document describe the shortcomings of the main battle tanks (MBT) of previous generations, as well as the technical solutions used on the new combat vehicle. The authors emphasize that the classic layout of tanks does not provide reliable protection, in particular, against cumulative weapons. Tirex, according to the concept, will be able to withstand fire much better.

It should be said that information about the new combat vehicle appeared earlier, however, it was fragmentary. The document confirms that the T-Rex was designed as a kind of "answer to the Russian T-14". In other words, the tank should receive a front armored capsule, which will accommodate three crew members, as well as an uninhabited turret.

It is suggested that the MBT will likely receive a 125mm cannon and machine guns. They also want to equip it with dynamic protection: blocks "Knife" and "Duplet". It should be said that, unlike the Russian T-14, the T-Rex is not a completely "independent" development. They want to use various modifications of the T-64 as a base for it. In addition, the T-72 is also named in the patent as a possible basis for a tank.

The T-Rex tank concept was presented by the Azov engineering group (now known as the Arey engineering group) in 2016. The team itself was founded in 2014 and was engaged in the repair of Ukrainian military equipment.

As for the combat potential of the new tank, experts believe that it will be comparable to the capabilities of the Ukrainian BM "Oplot" and surpass the potential of "Bulat", which was previously adopted by the Ukrainian army.

It should be noted that the future of the new tank is in question. Back in October 2016, it was reported about a "raider seizure" of facilities belonging to the Arey engineering group. It can be said with almost complete certainty that the Tirex prototype had not been built by that time.
