The flight is to take place on May 26. The flight will last three hours. Passengers will be able to see the supermoon, which this time will coincide with a total lunar eclipse. A hired astronomer will comment on what is happening.

Australian airline Qantas will launch a “Take Me to the Moon” flight, during which passengers will be able to see the supermoon. The Boeing 787 will fly to an altitude of over 13,000 meters at night. A cocktail party will be held before the start of the flight for business class passengers. The company also hired CSIRO astronomer expert Dr. Vanessa Moss. She will comment on what passengers see during the flight.
On the day of the flight, the Moon will be at its closest point to Earth, 357,311 kilometers away at 11:50 am ET. The supermoon will also coincide with a total lunar eclipse at 9:11 pm and 9:25 pm ET. At this time, the Moon will be 357,462 kilometers from our planet.
Ticket prices vary. Economy Class will cost AU $ 499 and Premium Economy AU $ 899. And for a ticket to business class you will have to pay 1499 Australian dollars. Sales start on May 12th.
The new flight will be included in the so-called concept flights. Qantas has previously launched similar ones: passengers could buy a ticket to fly to the Great Barrier Reef and Antarctica. Also in 2021, the company launched flights, the purpose of which can be found out only upon landing.
With the help of Get Me to the Moon, the company hopes to recoup losses incurred during the pandemic. To this end, Qantas also began selling business-class pajamas and fully-stocked bar carts from Boeing 747s.
