American and German biohackers have implanted a silicone implant with LEDs under their skin. It is powered by magnets and is capable of highlighting tattoos. One implant is enough for about 10 thousand "inclusions", then it will be removed surgically.

Biohackers are people who experiment with their bodies by implanting various cyber-implants into it; they focus on "fusing man and machine." In a recent experiment, Pittsburgh-based biohacker group Grindhouse Wetware and their German partners from Düsseldorf implanted an LED implant under their skin. The operation took 15 minutes. This is reported by the portal Gizmodo.
The new device, which is designed to highlight tattoos, was named Northstar V1. It is no larger than a coin in size. Like a piercing or cosmetic surgery, this implant serves a purely aesthetic function. It turns on from a magnet: if you hold a magnet over the skin, it starts blinking, and after ten seconds it returns to sleep mode. According to the calculations of the developers, the device can light up about 10 thousand times before the batteries are discharged. After that, it will need to be removed surgically.

The Northstar V1 is expected to go on sale in 2016. It will be possible to implant it under the skin in tattoo parlors around the world. In the future, the developers plan that the device, in addition to performing a cosmetic function, will be able to transmit important biometric information to an external device, such as a telephone. In addition, a person with an implant will be able to control electronic devices using gestures.
We add that the previous version of the Circadia 1.0 implant, created by Grindhouse Wetware in 2013, was a computer chip capable of transmitting biometric data to an android. It recorded body temperature via Bluetooth. The device is powered by a battery in a protective case and is charged wirelessly.

“Instead of going to the doctor every time to look at pictures of your health, you can keep for yourself the medical data obtained over the course of weeks and months and review it yourself. Messages, warnings and texts from your android phone to the Circadia implant can be displayed through the skin via LEDs,”said biohacker and transhumanist Tim Cannon, who received the implant. Cannon says the device will allow him to study what is causing his body temperature to drop or rise.
