Boeing believes that Spaceway-2 and Spaceway-3 have a low probability of explosion. At the same time, the situation with the Spaceway-1 satellite remains unclear.

Recently it became known about the likelihood of an explosion of the American telecommunications satellite Spaceway-1 due to faulty batteries. Since the satellite is in geostationary orbit, experts have announced the possibility of the debris falling into other satellites located on it.

However, the problem is more serious: earlier, we recall, two of the same devices were launched. Other satellites in the series - Spaceway-2 and Spaceway-3 - have a "very low likelihood" of encountering the difficulties we see with Spaceway-1, Boeing has just reported.

"The battery malfunction occurred during operation beyond its useful life," said Boeing spokesman Richard Esposito, commenting on the Spaceway-1 situation.

Space News, in turn, recalls that Spaceway-3, launched in 2007, is designed for 12 years, which means that the satellite is close to the end of its nominal service life.
