Journalists announced the intention of Roskosmos to abandon manned flights to the moon in order to save the budget. It is assumed that this will save 88.5 billion rubles. Earlier, the head of Roskosmos said that the Russian budget would find funds to explore the moon.

Izvestia reports on changes in the updated version of the Federal Space Program (FKP) for 2016–2025. Compared to the April version of the FKP, such programs as "Creation of a lunar take-off and landing complex", "Creation of a lunar orbital station", "Creation of a lunar base", "Creation of a lunar spacesuit", "Creation of a robotic support system on the Moon ". It is assumed that in a situation of general sequestration, this will lead to significant budget savings.

Recall, as noted by the head of Roscosmos Igor Komarov, the financing of the FKP as a whole was reduced by 845.5 billion rubles, but at the same time "all basic experiments and research were preserved."

Nevertheless, as the newspaper notes, the spacecraft, which in the future will be able to fly to the Moon, will continue to be built. Recall that in the spring of 2014, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Rogozin named the colonization of the Moon among the main priorities of the Russian space industry. However, in the summer of 2015, information about economic difficulties appeared in the media. After that, Dmitry Rogozin urged not to spend money on expeditions to the Moon and Mars. In his opinion, with the current state of the budget, space ambitions will undermine the country's economic interests.
