Specialists from Great Britain presented renders of the newest Russian submarine K-329 "Belgorod". She will be the first carrier of the Poseidon unmanned underwater vehicle.
The new Russian submarine "Belgorod" can rightfully be considered the most "mysterious" nuclear submarine of our days. British observers tried to shed light on its appearance. The picture shows the boat together with the Losharik submarine.
The submarine of project 09852 "Belgorod" was built on the basis of the submarine of project 949A "Antey". Launching took place in 2019. During the alteration of the submarine, its length increased to 184 meters, which makes the "Belgorod" the longest submarine in the world.
The main armament of the K-329 is the new Poseidon nuclear torpedo. According to data from open sources, its mass can reach 100 tons. It is designed to deliver an extremely powerful nuclear weapon to the shores of a potential enemy in order to destroy its strategically important targets.
The submarine will not be the only carrier of the Poseidon torpedo. In the foreseeable future, Russia wants to launch a second submarine - a carrier of a promising torpedo. It belongs to the 09853 project and has significant differences from Belgorod.
