According to an informed source, a new submarine can be handed over to the fleet on May 7. She will become the most powerful multipurpose submarine in the Navy.
According to a source in the military-industrial complex, an acceptance certificate and the St. Andrew's flag may be raised on the submarine on May 7. Previously, they wanted to transfer a new submarine to the fleet by the end of 2020.
Kazan is the lead nuclear submarine of Project 885M Yasen-M, which serves as a development of Project 885 (its only representative is the K-560 Severodvinsk submarine). The Kazan was launched on March 31, 2017. In September 2018, the submarine entered the factory sea trials.
The main strike weapons of the submarine will be the Caliber and Onyx missiles, as well as the promising Zircon hypersonic complex.
Tests of this missile are planned to be carried out both from surface and underwater carriers. In December, the Ministry of Defense demonstrated the next stage of tests: then the Zircon was launched from the board of the new ship, Admiral Gorshkov.
As Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said in April, they want to complete the tests of the complex in 2021.
