In the future, Russia may receive a multipurpose nuclear mini-submarine "Gorgon", as well as a small non-nuclear submarine "Serval". Their appearance has already been formed.

"Piranha"

Work on a promising multipurpose small submarine is being carried out by specialists from the Malakhit design bureau. The development is carried out on an initiative basis.

In addition to the Gorgon, the engineers worked out a technical proposal and defined the appearance of the non-nuclear submarine Serval, which has an air-independent power plant.

Earlier in the design bureau developed a small submarine of the project 865 "Piranha". On board it could accommodate up to six divers. In total, two such submarines were built: MS-520 and MS-521. The first was commissioned in 1988.

In 1999, both boats were withdrawn from the fleet ahead of schedule. Among the factors that led to the early withdrawal of submarines from service were a lack of funds and operational difficulties.

In May, the most advanced Russian nuclear-powered multipurpose submarine, the K-561 "Kazan" of the modernized project 885M, entered service. In the recently presented photos, you can see the internal structure of the submarine.
