Audi suddenly decided to turn to the old design to release a new electric car.

At the Shanghai Auto Show, Audi unveiled the A6 E-Tron concept, an electric five-seat fastback that nods to the 1980s carmaker's Audi 100.
The A6 E-Tron Concept is 195.3 inches long, 77.2 inches wide and 56.7 inches tall. This roughly corresponds to the current parameters A6 or A7. The body structure is made of aluminum and steel. The A6 E-Tron will be able to reach speeds of up to 100 km / h in less than four seconds, its power will be 469 horsepower.

The E-Tron 100 kWh battery has a different layout from other electric vehicles of the company. The company noted that the battery is "weight-optimized." The 800-volt charging platform, which was jointly developed with Porsche, will charge the electric vehicle from 5% to 80% in less than 25 minutes.
For the electric car, the thinnest headlights that exist among all Audi models have been developed. The driver will be able to set his own settings for daytime lights using several light modes. Turn signals can be projected onto the sidewalk. The taillights come in a black bezel that actually extends the rear window.

According to Audi designer Sasha Heide, the automaker is 95% ready for production of this model. The company wants to create "the most attractive and progressive cars - including in the world of electric vehicles," he said.
The presentation of the A6 E-Tron is a turning point for Audi, Green Car Reports notes. Previously, the automaker's strategy was to integrate the E-Tron into the lineup of existing models. However, now Audi has decided to look back, embodying some elements of the already obsolete 1980s model in the new electric car.

The electric car will be fully introduced at the end of 2022 and should hit the market in early 2023. Audi plans to primarily launch a model for North America, Europe and China.
