The Egyptians conducted an exercise in which the French Rafale fighter jet overpowered the Russian Su-35. Both aircraft belong to the fourth generation.

The Egyptian Air Force fought a mock battle in which a French Dassault Rafale aircraft confronted a new Russian Su-35. The results for the "Su" aircraft were not the best - the aircraft was "hit".

During the training battle, the Su-35 played the role of "aggressor" and made an attempt to attack the Rafale. However, the pilot of the latter used the Thales Spectra system of protection and prevention of enemy fire control, thanks to which it was possible to drown out the Su-35 radar station. After that, the Russian plane was unable to aim the weapon, and Dassault Rafale easily “shot down” the enemy vehicle.

The Su-35 fighter is the most modern Russian fighter, apart from the Su-57, which only recently entered the Aerospace Forces. The Su-35 has a radar station with a phased antenna array "N035 Irbis". According to open sources, it can detect targets with an EPR (effective scattering area) of 0.01 square meters at a distance of up to 100 kilometers. In addition to radar equipment, the vehicle has a modern optical-location station.

According to foreign experts, the outcome of the training air fight could affect the export potential of the Su-35. Previously, a number of foreign customers were already interested in the machine. In 2015, Russia signed a contract for the supply of 24 Su-35 fighters to China. In March of the year before last, the media reported on an agreement to supply several dozen aircraft to Egypt. And although Rosoboronexport denied this information, it later became known that the Egyptians had nevertheless purchased a batch of fighters. In 2020, photos were posted on the Web showing the Su-35 built for the Egyptian Air Force.

As for the Dassault Rafale, Egypt has previously ordered several dozen of these machines. Now it is the most "advanced" combat aircraft in the arsenal of an Arab country.

An increasing number of customers have been interested in French aircraft in recent years. Earlier, the vehicle won the acclaimed Indian Medium Multi-Role Combat Aircraft (MMRCA) tender. And although the total number of aircraft turned out to be much less than the originally planned figure (it was supposed to supply 126 multifunctional fighters), this became a good help for the French. Subsequently, an agreement for the supply of Rafale was signed, in particular, by Greece.

We will remind, recently Russia showed the whole world the new Checkmate fighter. The car should make its first flight in 2023. It is planned that serial production will begin in 2026-2027.
